MONDAY, NOVEMBER 30
Green Movie Premiere “The Age of Stupid”

6-7:30 p.m. Frank G. Pogue Student Center Multipurpose Room B.
The Age of Stupid’ is the new cinema documentary from the Director of 'McLibel' and the Producer of the Oscar-winning 'One Day in September'. This enormously ambitious drama-documentary-animation hybrid stars Oscar-nominated Pete Postlethwaite as an old man living in the devastated world of 2055, watching 'archive' footage from 2008 and asking: why didn't we stop climate change while we had the chance?

Green Job Panel
7-8:30 p.m.,Frank G. Pogue Student Center Multipurpose Room A.  
The green job panel will provide information on the experience and education needed to secure “green jobs” of the present and future – direct from the employers who will be doing the hiring.
Admission is free and open to the public.

 

WEDNESDAY, december 2 
Green Guest Speaker – “No Impact Man”: An Evening with Colin Beavan

7:30-9 p.m., Frank G. Pogue Student Center  Multipurpose Room A & B. 
Author Colin Beavan, in research for his next book, began the No Impact Project in November 2006. A newly self-proclaimed environmentalist who could no longer avoid pointing the finger at himself, Colin leaves behind his liberal complacency with a vow to make as little environmental impact as possible for one year. No more automated transportation, no more electricity, no more non-local food, no more material consumption…  As an ardent believer in "sustainability 2.0," Colin talks about sustainability in the most personal narrative.

Biomass Public Meeting - PA Fuels for Schools & Beyond
2:00-4:00 p.m., Frank G. Pogue Student Center Room 143 
The Pennsylvania Fuels for Schools & Beyond program is a statewide biomass energy-use initiative promoting local renewable resources to provide reliable energy for Pennsylvania schools and businesses. Discover how sustainably harvested native grasses, wood, and energy crops can provide commercial heat at significant cost savings over fossil fuels.
Admission is free and open to the public. 

Green Energy Fair
4:30-7:30 p.m., Frank G. Pogue Student Center Multipurpose Room A & B. 
The Green Energy Fair will feature a variety of exhibitors including internal campus groups as well as external conservation, recycling groups and for-profit companies.  For-profit companies will include vendors who sell environmentally friendly products, vendors who sell or install alternate energy solutions or vendors who offer consultations on designing eco-friendly/energy efficient homes or business.  Add to that free prizes, entertainment, free food.
Admission is free and open to the public.

SPECIAL eCycle Opportunity at the Fair!  Bring your old tvs, computers & electronics
4:30-7:30 p.m., Frank G. Pogue Student Center Lobby
eRiecycle will have a truck at our Fair to accept your old electronics. There is a $10 fee to dispose of computers, printers and monitors that has no or minimal recycling value.

Green Energy Workshops
7:30-8:30 p.m., Frank G. Pogue Student Center Rooms 303A, B, C & 310. 
With in depth information without the overload of technical details, the workshops will be a chance to learn more about alternative energy and saving energy.  Subjects will include: Biomass & Biofuels-how they affect you; Wind Power 101-planning for residential scale wind power; Solar Panels-the economics for home or business and Home Ideas-energy efficiency solutions that work.

Admission is free and open to the public. 

 

FRIDAY, december 4

Green Cars / Hybrid Test Drives
11 am-2 p.m. Frank G. Pogue Student Center parking lot. 
What is the difference between hybrid 2.0 and 3.0?  What is the most economical hybrid today?  What will you be driving in the future?  Check out the possibilities as dealers from around the Erie area bring their cars here for you to try out.
Free test drives.  Open to students and staff of EUP.

 

TUESDAY THRU FRIDAY, december 1 - 4
Green Energy Week / UPB Movie Nights: “FUEL”

5 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday, 6 p.m. Friday, Frank G. Pogue Student Center Scot Theater. 
 ‘FUEL’ is a comprehensive and entertaining look at energy in America: a history of where we have been, our present predicament and a solution to our dependence on foreign oil.  Rousing and reactionary, FUEL is an amazing, in-depth, personal journey of oil use and abuse as it examines wide-ranging energy solutions other than oil, the faltering US auto and petroleum industries, and the latest stirrings of the American mindset toward alternative energy.
